Hove Folk Club means:
Who could ask for more?
Hove Folk Club is organising its first full weekender - on the first weekend in August (replacing the first Friday, 7th August). Our guest star on the evening of Saturday 1st will be the inimitable Roy Bailey! As we anticipate considerable demand for tickets, we are accepting advance bookings for this session only.
As well as Roy's gig on the Saturday, there will be two separate "Local Heroes" afternoon and evening sessions on Sunday 2nd August, and a free performance by Robb Johnson and the Irregulars on the evening of Friday 31st July.
Latest bookings are:
Attila the Stockbroker
Mary Hampton
Pog
Philip Jeays
Lorraine Bowen
One of the many attractive features about the Eclipse is the fact that on Fridays it continues to serve customers until midnight. The idea is that the music ends around 11, so anybody needing to catch trains elsewhere can do so, whilst those who don't can have time for a parting glass.
We reconvene the events next on 3rd July, when we have Emma Scarr with Garry Smith. We hope to see you there.
The residents are Robb Johnson (thoroughgoing singer-songwriter) and Robert Rankin (novelist and stark raving genius). Floor performers are very welcome.

Emma Scarr with Garry Smith : 3rd July 2009

Emma has been active on London's live scene for approaching two decades. A proficient performer on guitar, fiddle and banjo, in recent years she has concentrated on songwriting, and it is this angle which will predominate when she appears at Hove.

Emma will be accompanied by slide guitarist Garry Smith.
